I finally got around to start my build. Engine will be out this week and off to the machine shop. When I get enough time Ill add in the specifics of the build. AC will also be coming out, just need to figure out how to get rid of the freon. Heres a few pics to start off with:

Yes, everything except the machine work I have done myself. The car has seen the dealership once in its life and they are the reason my tranny took a dump a few years ago. It was rebuilt with a shep tranny and got the t-case done at the same time.
GSDs are some awesome animals, she is a little bit bigger now. 8 months and close to 70lbs

Alright heres a small update. Within the last few weeks the car moved to a new shop so reorganizing was needed.
But heres the clutch, Carbonetic Triple Carbon

I ended up ripping out the stock fuel lines and replacing them with the braided SS lines. I just got the first line from the tank to the bottom of the car. It seems the stock line locks on the under side of the car will hold everything in place perfectly with slight modification.

I can give you the name of the breeder I got her from. They are on a 2 year waiting list. Each pup is close to $2000USD. She was flown in from Germany with the USA rep in CO, I picked her up while living there earlier this year.
So far she is doing very well and is close to getting her SchH I rating. It's a lot of hard work but it pays off in the long run. This is the first dog Ive trained my self and have learned a lot from her, theres no way anyones taking the dog from me. They would have to rip her out of my cold dead arms.
Forgot I had this one. This was the day I pulled the engine. She was guarding the household...actually she wanted to run across the street and play with the neighbor kids.

Yeah back on topic. Anyways Im waiting to head to the AMS swap meet this weekend. Hopefully theres going to be some good buys and I can bring back a ton of stuff to get closer to the end of the build. My AN fitting collection is down to nothing and I still need quite a few more (i hate how expensive they are) Heck Im still trying to re-coup from throwing the engine in on Suday and the weekend is almost here again.

Leaving for the swap meet in a few min. Just got done with this last night. Im missing 1 AN fitting to make it complete. Every single line has been pressure tested to 120psi, a PITA but well worth it. I dont need fuel dumping out all over the road.

Thanks, just wait till the manifold and turbo show up, thats going to be kick ass. Im going with a front facing manifold so the turbo inlet is going to be right above the IC core.
Speed JUnkyz
October 6th, 2008, 12:06 AM
Yeah thats crazy! We are scared to upgrade turbo and cams. We are afraid we will compromise the rest of the reliability that we have left lol..
dryad001
October 6th, 2008, 11:08 PM
I beat the hell out of that car with the stock and 3065 turbos. I held 30psi all the time with nothing ever go wrong with the engine or head itself. When I had the block machined the builder said its the best bearing wear he has ever seen in a car with over 50k.
dryad001
October 11th, 2008, 11:42 AM
Well gaskets are becoming a big PITA to find for the car. I had to drive over 2 hours to just get an intake manifold gasket yesterday. Its so close to the finish I can taste it.
The fuel system just needs to be wired and its done. The engine harness is almost done. All I need to do now is figure out what turbo to go with and be done with it. Then its being sent to AMS for a 93 map and a Q16 map.
Once I get back to the shop today Ill have more pics since I left my camera there

I have to take some time away from the project for the next few weeks since next weekend Ill be in Vegas for UFC 91, and the following week I colse on my house with moving in the following days to about a week.
All of this came at a horrible time with booting thr GF to the curb last night. I almost feel better already.

December 28th, 2008, 10:54 PM
Well its been a long process so far and the build came to a halt for about a month since I bought a house and slowly moving in. Moving the car in the dead of winter kinda sucked but shes cozy in her new home all to herself. I have an extra 1.5 garage in my backyard that was built for toys so I figure its a damn good toy to have in there.
Anyways, the AEM is installed with a lot of the sensors that have been calibrated.
dryad001
December 28th, 2008, 11:01 PM
Almost forgot. When I fired up the AEM there was a huge fuel leak. Seems like the o-rings that came with the injectors were a bit too small so luckily I had an extra set of viton seals laying around and its all good. I turned the FPR up to about 100psi and no leaks so I brought it back down to about 43psi for the first startup
Pics will be soon. I need to find out what box my camera got packed into and everything sorted.
