Ok Basically what its doing is, it's not very responsive when gas is pushed. Takes a little more than usual to get this puppy rolling, very sluggish, and jumpy. I was thinking it was the front o2 sensor, but I replaced that awhile back and I hope its not blown again. Take a look in the vid, but the vid might not be very helpful, except you can hear it some in the beginning of the video.:mitsu:

No it kinda seems like ur getting flooded? possibly.. very hard to access when not there.. did u hook the wideband up yet? that will help to see if ur flooded fuel/air

Not Yet I have not install the wideband, and I just got gas this morning HAHA, I cleaned the MAF Sensor this morning and checked the plugs(which I will post pics of soon) and it did it again this morning. I have a new symptom description for you guys.

Ok keep in mind again, this only does this when cold.

When I litely accelerate and then shift into next gear(when needed), then I just only litely push the gas, Im talking not even an inch is pushed, it will break up BAD. Its spudder, slightly jump(not enough to throw you back or forward.), hesitant BAD. Goes a long with the description of having to push the pedal MORE to just get it to respond.

Could this be my O2 sensor by chance?

And if I am flooding at cold, wouldn't CBRD have noticed this when working on the car?

so much of an easier fix when you have a code!!!! Don't understand why it would just start doing this all of a sudden! Here goes your luck again! Look....my evo still runs strong i think i'm done hanging with you!!! LOL

No it did this before hand. Before CBRD but I thought what ever they did would fix it......Or atleast notice it lol

bad exhaust leak? is the exhaust manifold/turbo stock? it cooould be leaking before the turbo when cold and once heats up, the leak seals by the expanding metal

hmmmmm Maybe I will tighten all my bolts tomorrow morn

Ok I went out this morning and I checked my manifold bolts, o2 house bolts, and basically all the bolts and studs in the exhaust before the turbo. Although the Manifold bolts going to the hotside were really loose....It didn't fix the problem HAHA.

One I could have taken out with my hands and the others I turn twice freely with the rachet......

At first I didn't notice the breaking up or jumpyness. Then when I shifted in the higher gear and just put the foot on the pedal litely, just enough to keep it from slowing down, I notice BIG time the breaking up and slowing down. If I kept my foot exactly on the pedal to where typically the car wouldn't slow down, the car would break up and slow down like it was out of gas........Sometimes back fire.

Now another thing I noticed is that if I accelerate hard or slow and then I shift to higher gear and then floored it! I would get a pop from the exhaust more often then not.

WAHOOOOOOO!!!! We have made progress!!!!

So I take the car over to Joe's house(He has a really nice garage) and on a mission to get to the bottom of this problem.

First thing we do is take off the gadgets attached to the turbo(Intake) and do a boost leak test.... Thats rule #1 before doing anything. Then ONCE AGAIN!!!! We hear a big pissed off snake behind the intake mani. Pass. Side.

My Guess, only because I do not know what most valves are called, is that it was the EGR Valve. AGAIN!!

I have already put this line back on twice already.......

So before we put it back on, we wanted to do a little investigating on why this thing keeps popping off. Come to find out, the line isn't long enough and actually had a kink in the hose exactly right before the mounting point. So where the line actually mounts the Valve it is kinked. Basically making it impossible for any air to travel, hence the reason it pops off. Acting as an air gun shooting the line.

So we take a little trip to Advance Auto Parts in search of some long enough line. Problem is the line I had in stock was the wrong size. The inner walls were to big in diameter.

While we had the car up, we marked the spot where the Wideband will be going!!! WOOT I can't wait!!....

Now: This morning I test drove the car around the block when cold and I have noticed A HUGE!!! difference in Cold Running. Does not break up at all! and isn't at all hesitant like it was. But I do notice slight hesitation, which could be number of things...... Plugs, gas, dirty injectors, possibly even.....Its COLD!! lol Im stoked that we are making progress. I have plugs coming this week for testing. I will probably replace the o2 sensor up front anyways just to be safe!

Im getting from people now that I won't see a huge difference in tune after this. When before they were saying I would lol.....Welp it back to the drawling boards lol

<!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> Also what are the chances of this being a boost leak when its cold(on the charge pipes system)? Because i tighten them down more when I had it up, and I KNOW i tighten them all the way down last time. Then maybe when its warms the couplers expand and seal the leak(where ever it is). When I did the past boost leak tests the car was already warmed up those nights and so Im thinking the couplers were swoll! lol.

I guess I will figure out my answer next time I start it up cold lol

because I have the worst luck. We don't want to sell because the issues are minor. Just annoying. :D

P.s. this wasnt the original message I typed. the Original one was more harsh and contained name calling, which isn't nice. Although i could give two shits less!

Ever checked the timing?

Speed JUnkyz
March 7th, 2009, 11:57 AM
nope....you know how to do that?

KB240SR
March 7th, 2009, 01:00 PM
Never done it with an EVO but with the SR and RB, you just warm the engine up, hook up a timing light, and disconnect the TPS. If its like the RB and SR, you can adjust the timing by moving the CAS.
