Hello, I have a 2003 EVO 8. No real engine management. Just an ecu flash and a turbo timer. I dont know if anyone else has had this problem but i was wondering if someone could help out. I changed out my stock battery for an AMS small battery kit and i also installed aftermarket intercooler piping yesturday. It had the problem before but not nearly as noticeable. But today i got home from work and i was rolling up my windows, all four, and i noticed that the RMPs dropped and my check oil light came on. It never had a big enough draw to drop the rpms that low or have the check oil light come on. I have read before, I think evom, that this could be a problem of the alternator. I wanted to make sure that this could be the only possibility. And I was also wondering if there was a way to get rid of that draw completely? Thanks Josh

The first thing i would do would be to take it to like an advanced auto or something like that. They can hook it up and test the alternator to make sure its charging correctly. As far as getting away from the draw don't think so! Do you have an aftermarket system or anything?

I have a panosonic cd player and thats it. I have a grounding kit in the engine compartment. I dont know where the draw would be coming from. Yeah I planned on taking it there. Its just gonna be a bit of a pain. My Serpentine belt tensioner pully is kinda broken. The spot where you put the ratchet it kinda broke haha. But i guess ill be doing that tomorrow.

nice!!!! Yea fix that bolt then get it into advanced!! As far as the cd player, aftermarket cd players do put out more wattage than a factory head unit does but i don't see it causing that big of a problem. Have you talked to other people with the small battery kit to see if they have the same or similar problems?

no I haven't talked to anyone else. It only does it while i was rolling up my windows. I havent noticed it while im driving or anything like that. And it only happens when the windows are rolled up and i push the buttons,to roll them up more, If that makes sense.

wait do you push all four at the same time? If so there is your problem on top of a smaller battery. Even with my standard battery when I would push more than one at a time I saw a change in rpms or amps being pulled. And since you have a smaller battery I would only assume you are going to lose a lot of power. Plus thats a very sure way of burning up you window motors

yeah i notice the same thing when winding all the windows up at the same time. Try one at a time and see if it still does it as bad! Now come to the chatbox and chat with SJ and I!!!! LOL

yes all four at the same time. my regular battery did the same as what yours did but never that bad. If thats the case Ill have to write a note on my dash-One window button at a time!- haha
