I never heard of this, but sounds like a good idea lol....do people get there cars retuned after a looong period of time? I.e. I have 200k on my ticker, if I get it redialed in, you think the motor will run longer, better, more efficiently? Not like tuned for mods, but maybe have the AFR checked and if its off, maybe redial it back to normal? Have it check for leaks in vac lines, fuel, and intake... :D
Just ideas Im thinking about...

I dont see why or how it would hurt.Hook it up to some loggers, get your numbers and see how far they are off from stock ones. Most performance shops do that when they buy and sell cars. They will take a stock like car and retune it to squeeze HP out of it

if you have the old style maf, the flapper door type, then you would want to re-tune that on a high mileage car. The spring inside becomes weak over time, and the car will run richer than needed, causing poor fuel economy and lower power. open it up, and it will look like the picture. i generally tighten them 2-3 clicks per 100k miles to get them back in line. You'd want to have a wide-band O2 sensor, or a 5 gas analyzer to dial it in.
other than that, all you would want to do is your basic maintenance. Change all your fluids, replace ignition parts as need, perform a top end de-carb/ injector purge, replace your timing belt, reset your ignition timing.
You would want to check for vacuum leaks and such, but the only real tuning i would suggest would be to dial in an old flapper door style MAF. the newer cars with a hot wire MAF, just clean it. other than that they pretty much trim themselves out no matter the age, as long as there aren't any major mechnical problems (vacuum leaks, weak ignition ETC.)
